2019 Hyland Vineyard Pinot Noir

2019 Hyland Vineyard Pinot Noir

$50.00

This vineyard is situated in the McMinnville AVA and was first established in 1972. We sourced fruit from a block of Coury clone planted in 1989.

This clone is known as a “suitcase clone” as it was originally smuggled into the country from Colmar, Alsace by Charles Coury in 1964. Coury is one of the Willamette Valley’s original wine industry pioneers and this clone is his legacy.

Soil type is Jory. The block sits at about 600 feet in elevation and slopes gently to the SW.

35% whole cluster, native/spontaneous primary and secondary fermentation. 10 months elevage, neutral oak.

The combination of this vineyard block planted with the Coury clone of Pinot Noir and set in the foothills of the Oregon coast range, produces a wine of unique elegance and beauty. Boysenberry and pomegranate fruit notes accented with streaks of cedar spice, with plush smooth tannins.

13.0% Alc.
